Check back here soon to read about the Graduation Retreat for our first graduates!

1/25/2019

In the summer of 2018, Lassalle Community School had her first graduating class!  We are so proud of them, and excited at how the school has grown over the years.  There are about 475 students now, classes in K-12.
As a celebration, we held a retreat for the graduates.  About a dozen of them and others from the school, plus 20 of us representing Verite' Christian Mission, enjoyed a great time of fellowship together for three days at an event center near Cap Haitien.  We ALL had a great time and truly knew the presence of the Lord with us from start to finish.

We practiced SOLIDARITY from the beginning, tightly bound in the van!

Another School Building Going UP!

1/25/2019

We are so grateful to the Lord for His provision this week!  A very hard-working team of folks from Towaliga Baptist Church have poured a floor for the second story of the newest school building.  This building will be a real blessing for our growing school.

Strong Rock Christian School  Trip -  3/26 ~ 4/2/2017

4/2/2017

Strong Rock Christian School has partnered with Verité Christian Mission this past week for their second trip with us.  The mission was to build two houses for families that had met calamity.  One had first been damaged by the earthquake of 2010, then finished off by the hurricane last year.  The other house had burned.  These houses belong to two families associated with the school that we support.

It's been a great week!  Travel has been safe, bodies have remained healthy, and the work has been done!  The two houses were completed to the desired point.  Remaining items can be completed by the Haitian people, as planned.

Also this week, Strong Rock students and Haitian students have interacted one-on-one, learning English and Creole, working side-by-side, and getting to know each other in general.  This was done in the previous Strong Rock trip, and then and now it has proven to be a great success.

The last day was reserved for a field trip, also something that had been enjoyed on the previous trip.  There was a visit to a historical museum where both American and Haitian students were able to learn a lot about the history and culture of Haiti.  There was also time for eating and fun.

October Trip, Part 2 !

10/31/2014

Wayne sent photos this morning of the work they did yesterday.  Here it is in his own words:

"Muddy beginning to the day yesterday. It rained  a lot the night before.

Slow starting but eventually worked into a good progression.

The students didn’t mind sharing classroom space with us as we went in and out with supplies and getting tools.

They even got a little tickled occasionally as we were wet with sweat and dirty.

A good day. Worked a little late but got to a good point to start today off.

Thanks for the prayers. Pray for our safety as we are working up high do “heavy lifting."

A Few More Pix from the Trip...

10/17/2014

Due to vagaries of cyberspace, these pictures didn't come through while the team was gone, but I hope you'll enjoy seeing them now.

Because illness bothered several of our team, the roof for the building was not added, but Wayne and a few folks are going back soon to complete it.  You can see that the rafters are up and ready for the roofing.

This building is the first of a planned school campus.  The kids can be learning in their new classrooms soon, we pray!

School leaders Loussol and Melion are pictured in one of the photos.

Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

We received this photos late last night from Wayne.  They show the fence that is alongside the new school building.

We pray that the building and the fence will be a blessing to the community.

Two Days of Great Progress!

10/8/2014

By the end of the second day, the walls of the school building were essentially built to their full height.  In addition to our Team, a number of parents of the school children have come to help in the project, which has been a great help.  Everyone has worked so hard and faithfully, the project has gone as well as, if not better than, could be expected!  Thank you, Lord, for moving in this!

Below are four more pictures that Wayne sent late Tuesday night.

The Proof is in the Pictures

10/6/2014

We didn't receive a phone call this evening, but Wayne did send pictures which carry, as they say, a thousand words each.  Can you pick out someone you know in these?

Wayne did write one comment:  "God showed up in a big way today.  The full story would take too long to tell. Got to get some sleep."

Can you imagine how tired they must be!
